You, the World, and God

The Lord chose you; you did not choose the Lord.

Why did he choose you? He saw in your heart what he needed to be able to do his work. Because of this, He will fill you with His Holy Spirit when you ask Him.

Having the Holy Spirit provides you with the means to "see" God's Plan and to be able to read God's Word and make sense of it. As it says in the scriptures, “Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his {Rom 8:9}”. Through the in-filling of the Holy Spirit we can then begin to understand where we fit into the world around us and into what God has planned for us.

Now, the Earth is Creation; the World was created by Man.

We are in God's Creation (the Earth and Universe, etc.) and we are in the World that was created by our upbringing, the society we live in and the circumstances we have created within this framework of Man's World.

Each of us has a different "world" created by ourselves as each of us has had a different upbringing in a different place and our lives have gone on under differing circumstances so each is very different for the other. There is little consistency between our lives apart from possibly location, custom, and language. Each of us is "worlds-apart" from each other even if we live in the same house!

Using the spirit we can now differentiate between God's Reality and Man's so-called reality/world.

Using the Holy Spirit we can see what is real (of God) and what is artificial (of Man/World). Even though the world of ours has hard physical and mental consequences for actions taken in it, they are in fact immaterial to the reality of God; this is what confounds mankind - this difference between itself (Man; what it calls real) and what it calls fiction of God (belief in God). A monk, or a nun, tries to accomplish this separation from the world by isolating themselves in a monastery or convent. This type of separation is not for everyone, but it doesn't mean that God leaves us to fend for ourselves for He says, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you {John 4:18}", and "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee {Heb 13:5}". I have, and many others have, found this to be true.

As we develop our vision of God and His Plan (we “walk by faith” {2 Cor 5:7} not by natural sight/understanding), the things that matter most to us change; away from the things of this world and we begin to concentrate on the things of God. That which had meaning to us in the natural has lesser meaning now than those things we now have in God.

By knowing and understanding this relationship between ourselves and God and putting the world in its correct place in that relationship we are empowered to withstand whatever situations our “world” presents to us. This is not airy-fairy stuff. This is real and I can personally testify of this working in my life and I’m happy to discuss it with anyone willing to listen with an open mind.
